Why should machine selection not be based only on wire diameter?
Wire diameter is one of the fundamental parameters in machine selection, but it is not sufficient by itself. Two materials with the same diameter may behave differently during straightening and cutting because of their hardness, surface properties and coil characteristics.
For this reason, the mechanical properties of the material, target cutting length and accepted tolerances should be evaluated together when determining machine capacity.

The structure of the straightening unit, roller settings, wire behaviour while leaving the coil and the feeding system all affect the accuracy of the finished part.

Producing both short and long parts on the same system requires the correct selection of the measurement method and feeding control. When very tight tolerances are required, the decision should not be based only on catalog values; sample production should be performed using the actual material.
